Fogbound

Reading time 2 minutes

I managed to spend a whole 20 hours in the UK between trips to the USA and Amsterdam. In that time I unpacked, repacked, did a live tutorial on how to dress a Christmas tree on Facebook and slept, very badly indeed. After another early start I now find myself fogbound at London City Airport; out of sync, out of body and out of mind. You might imagine I had already been at the hashish, but it’s jet-lag, I promise. Meanwhile I have three posts on the go: one about Terrain, the fabulous garden centre from the Anthropologie stable; one about a walk along the High Line Park with Him Indoors; and another on the bright lights of New York City. Plus I have a cute little Christmas tree that comes through the letterbox to review … and an excellent new book about Daffodils by Helen O’Neill that I can’t wait to lose myself in. Quite when my feet will touch the ground again I don’t know, but when they do I’ll be a busy boy!

  1. Hope you are airborne soon. Fog has appeared from nowhere and I’m 40 miles north of London.
Love the FB tree tutorial, thank you!

  2. Slow down a bit, Dan ( I know it’s easier to say so than do ). I hope you are free of the jet-lag soon. Take care of yourself …and enjoy even the time remaing to Christmas.

    1. I am not very good at taking it easy at the best of times Paul. Currently it’s impossible. I am trying very hard to pace myself so I don’t get the lurgy. It’s already doing the rounds in my office 😕. I really want to be fit and well to enjoy Christmas!

  3. Dearest Mr. Christmas!!!!! You have bl…dy nailed it!!!! I have just arrived in Tokyo….and omg, aside from the large glass of chardi…I had to have…. This has lit my day!!n I want that gold flower with the pearls…lots of them….Dan, the display decs for Christmas in Nth Asia are sensational..

    1. Hey Helen. Thanks so much. I watched it back without sound and thought I didn’t look very cheerful 😕 We had over 450 tree decs in the range this year and I can honestly say that no one in the U.K. had anything remotely comparable in quality. I have the best job! Mind you, I now have three trees to decorate at home so need to start practicing what I preach!

  4. You did not look as if you were nervous, quite a natural in front of the camera and it has given me a load of tips, thank you. Mild and mizzly here in Devon so hope you are free of the fog soon AND you can catch up on your sleep.

  5. Looking forward to your blog on Terrain, I’ve been following them for the past year be good to hear what it is like in the flesh

    1. My review is coming, I promise. Everything has been on hold due to my travels. I will say that Terrain is brilliant by US standards, but that I’ve seen better in Europe. It’s a very good attempt at melding a great gift range with plants, floristry and excellent catering.

  6. I am Looking forward to your blog, as well. About the “Daffodil” by Helen O’Neill- really amazing, moving and so eloquently written. I have read it overnight, so captivating…
