Daily Flower Candy: Primula veris

Reading time 1 minute

The common cowslip, Primula veris, is believed to have been named after the cow pats in which it was often found growing. At this time of year it carpets road embankments and damp meadows, lighting up the short grasses with its nodding flowers.

    1. Glad you like the look of cowslips. They are very hardy and like to colonise short grass. Cowslips seed freely, so once they are happy they will spread themselves around. I haven’t got a wild enough spot to grow them in the garden, so just enjoy them in their natural habitat.
